Erika Roberts Horsemanship is dedicated to developing extraordinary relationships between horses and humans.

Erika is available for individual or group horseback riding lessons for adults, teens and children, round pen clinics, half day to weekend clinics, cow working, basic roping, backcountry pack trips, horse training, and colt starting.  Erika also assists horse owners in reaching their goals and overcoming challenges.

Erika operates out of two locations near Durango, one just South of Oxford and another at Wilderness Trails Ranch, which is near Vallecito Lake.   Additionally, Erika can travel to your facility or home.

Erika Roberts Horsemanship teaches foundational skills that promote harmony between horse and rider for all disciplines and all levels.  This style of horsemanship creates a solid foundation necessary for any riding endeavour, such as show jumping, ranch horse versatility competition, trail riding and safety on the ground.  By reducing frustration and anxiety, we maximize the potential for an exceptional partnership. 

This foundation includes safe and willing trailer loading, proper saddling and saddle fit, tension-free bridling, classic equitation, developing soft and willing collection, riding with the entire body, true neck reining, lateral movement, working gates from horseback, overcoming scary objects and challenging obstacles, and much more.  All skills emphasize riders developing and practicing feel, timing and balance. 

The horse is like a truth mirror for us.  They reflect back what is really taking place, what is really happening.  Horses live in the present moment.  They do not hide their emotions.  They do not pretend, and they cannot lie.  To cultivate a relationship with a horse is a practice of self-reflection and self-control, a dynamic balance of effort and surrender by both horse and human.
